    McCain To Hold Town Hall Meeting in Albuquerque

      Republican presidential candidate John McCain will attend a town hall meeting here July 15 in what will be his second campaign stop in the state since becoming the presumptive GOP presidential nominee. The Arizona senator will arrive in Albuquerque on July 14 for a private fundraising event and then hold the town hall meeting at the Hotel Albuquerque the next morning.     Shooting Suspect Says He Was Abused

      Eddie J. Barela, the-84-year-old charged in the shooting death of an Albuquerque man at a Saturday barbecue, told police he wanted to kill the man and a woman who were part of a conspiracy against him, according to a criminal complaint.

    Woman Wears a Collar and Chain in Fight for Dogs' Freedoms

      Shana Gustafson gave up some of her freedom Sunday to raise awareness for the plight of dogs that spend much of their lives on a tether. The Albuquerque woman wore a collar and chain for 8 hours at Los Altos Park in observance of "Chain Off," a national event organized by Dogs Deserve Better, a group dedicated to ending the practice of dog chaining.
